Cle de Peau Product reviews

Hi all,
June is taking a much needed break today and I'm filling in. Mostly because I've got some AMAZING products to share! My lovely Shifu (that's chinese for "Master" as in, a teacher.) was awesome enough to hook me up with some terrific, decent sized samples. I've tried them out and am here to say they are worth the splurge! So let's get started.

Cle de Peau
Gentle Cleansing Foam

I think I may have found a new cleanser. I have used Purity by Philosophy for a few years now. A sample of this product was given to me by a friend and I cannot say enough great things about it! My skin feels incredible after using this product and it gets rid of all leftover traces of makeup, to include eye makeup. (Other products usually leave traces of mascara and create the dreaded "raccoon eye" look for me.) This cleanser has a nice, creamy texture, foams up wonderfully and has a light, pleasant smell. A small amount goes a very long way, too. The only downfall is the price point, but definitely worth every penny.

Cle de Peau
Brightening Serum Supreme

Miracle in a bottle! I've been using this serum for a few nights now, and noticed an immediate difference in my skin. I have hyper pigmentation courtesy of chemotherapy and have struggled to brighten up my face since it developed. This serum has renewed my confidence and given me back my beautiful pre-chemo skin. Even my boyfriend noticed the difference!
I use this product at night as this is when the skin renews itself from the craziness of the day. It is light, glides on nicely and does not have a strong scent. This has become a Holy Grail item for me and is worth the higher price point. It will be a luxury splurge for me, but I’m perfectly fine with that if it continues to make my face look this youthful and clear. I wish I would have known about this product when I was dealing with the big C and I will be spreading the word to other cancer warriors. I want to personally thank Cle de Peau for this product. Incredible!

Cle de Peau
La Creme

WOW!!!
I've been using samples of this product for just three nights now and I can not believe the difference in my skin! I generally have oily skin with few blemishes and larger pores around the nose. After using the creme, my cheeks are softer,my pores look smaller and my skin is incredibly clear! I use this in combination with the brightening serum and the foaming cleanser. These products are little miracles in a bottle. The cream can feel a bit heavy, but that's okay as most night creams are. I just wish I could afford to KEEP using this cream. At $525 for a one ounce jar, it is definitely not something I can use regularly.

So there you have it. Three amazing products that will bathe your skin in luxury and replenish it after a long, hard day. These items are absolutely worth the splurge if your pocketbook can handle it.

Be beautiful!

Product Review: Diorshow New Look Mascara

As you all know, I started with Dior and still in love with lots of their products, esp the makeups.  In spring 2012, Dior has come up a new mascara: Diorshow New Look Mascara.  Being very different from its Diorshow Mascara that has got this big brush, they have invented a nano-bristle brush that suitable just for short lashes.  It has got a special formula that strengthen and multiply the lashes that creates ultimate volume.

I personally tried it and it curls up my straigh lashes and it does make my Asian thin lashes look fuller.  On top of that, it does not smudge!!! Yes, I have to confess that most mascara, waterproof or not will smudge on me, this one does not!!!  I am incredibly happy with it!!!!

Two Consecutive Makeup Workshops

JBX Studio had two makeup workshops for two consecutive days!  We were invited to be the guest speaker for Asian Women Empowered Group at Tracy Gee Community Center.  All these ladies are professional women and business women.  I really enjoyed it and shared my MUA makeup secrets with them.   The next day, we hosted our first mini workshop in 2012 - Flawless Foundation Flawless Canvas. It was a smaller class but everybody had a good time learning hands-on techniques on how to create a flawless canvas for their faces.

Look at my students below.  Don't they look FABULOUS?!!!

Some people were born for the Stage - Latin Dance World Champion Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko

2-11-12, It was a very special day of my life.  I was invited by Connie Kwan-Wong to represent CIN to attend her charity event: 1st Annual Ballroom Dance Extravaganza - Featuring Lain Dance World Champion Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko!

I was very nervous during the interview, but the World Champion are super NICE!!  They are very down to earth and humorous.  They made the entire interview very smooth!  Later that night, they have performed 5 different style of dances - rumba, jazz, ballroom and etc!  I was so AMAZED by their performance!  I truly believe that some people were really born for the stage!  Their dance was POWERFUL, ENERGITIC, and INFLUENTIAL.  You will feel the energy and passion of both dancers!!!!  I could not use words to describe my feelings!  I can tell you that it was INCREDIBLE!!!!
This charity event was the first fund raising event hosted by Connie Kwan-Wong Charity Foundation  benefiting the Children's Defense Fund.  I've known Connie for years and she always has been a very positive, energitic, and kind-hearted person.  Working as a cardio sonogram specialist, Connie always has a heart for children.  She and her best friend, Mandy Kao, has been supporting lots of charity events assisting local children charities.  They are my role models as young Asian professional women.  I think we should all learn from these two ladies - determined, confident, and kind-hearted!

2-10-12 Haha, It's a Funny Day

2-10-12, no matter how you read it from left to right or from right to left, it is the same!  Haha, funny day and it's my birthday!  Since last night, I have been receiving birthday wishes!  I feel so loved!  Thank you everyone!!

Well, looking back to my 27th year of my life, it was full of adventures!  I did quite a bit of stuff: organized a fashion show hosted more than 250 people, became counter manager of Dior, switched to freelancer to Dior, Shiseido and Le Metier four months later, started a business and withdrew due to unforseen disagreement over finance management, and branched out to do things on my own!

It has been quite an adventure in terms of career life.  I learnt so so so much from all the things I have done.  In 2011, I still had no direction of where I should go in terms of career.  I just knew that I need to learn more and do more.  Thus, I took lots of volunteer work, i.e. doing fashion show makeup for free and editorial work for free.  I also signed up to be the counter manager for Dior.  It helped me gaining lots of experience, knowledge and speed!  Yes, speed, my speed went from one hour per face to 30 minutes per face!   It is essential for a Makeup Artist.  This is what my instructor, Anita Wu, asked me when she met me for the first time: "How long does it take you to achieve a look?"  For bridal, I will take longer, about 45 minutes to an hour.  When a makeup artist knows exactly where she/he would place the makeup on one's face, it shouldn't take longer than an hour to achieve a look.  It depends on the makeup artist's analysis in color theory, bone structure, face feature on any customer.  And of course, client's preferences as well.  That's why it's extremely important to consult with your client before you put on the makeup.

On the other hand, I learnt lots of good practice in business from people I met in various fields.  This kind of connection, yet again, is very valuable for me.  And at the same time, evaluate where you are and know if you have achieved your goal is crucial.  In 2011, I didn't have a goal.  I follow the float and let the trend and opportunities drive me because I was HUNGRY to move up.  There are goods and bads with that.  Good thing is that you will get to know lots of people and practices in fashion/makeup industry.  Bad thing is that you will be carried away sometime and do things according to other's agenda, not your agenda.  In 2011, I've done too many things in other people's agenda although I never regret doing it since it opened up my eyes, yet I felt my time was wasted when I reached to a bottle neck.  Sometimes, I would hit my head in the wall for things I've done without thinking.  Thanks to my boyfriend, who HASN'T given up on me yet!  Everytime I reached a bottle neck, he and MY LOVELY MOM always encourage me and help me to hop over the hurdles!

Kelly is correct!  My 28th year has started with some great things already!  I have won a monthly contest in a renown magazine in China and it's a national magazine!  My work will be published in China!  Yes! How many people are competing over there, the most populated country!  I assisted JaJo Couture for her 2012 look book and it will be printed as well.  I became the contributor of SPIA Magazine and it will be printed as well!  Things have just been getting better and better!

In 2012, I look into doing more good work with makeup, hair and props!  My goal is to become a well-rounded stylist, not just an MUA.  Haha, quite ambitious!  And also continue to teach and share my knowledge to consumers and aspiring makeup artists!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

It has been a happy day today

There are two wonderful things happening today!

1. I took my mother to see doctor for her result!  Everything comes back normal.  No signs of cancer in her liver!  Thank Buddha and Grand Master for this!

2. I spoke with the editor of a national portrait, photography magazine Today Studio《今日人像》 in China and she confirmed with me that my work will be published in the March 2012 issue.  This made me jumped and dance two laps in my apartment!  This is not only a simple publication but also a report card for me.  Today Studio is a magazine specializing in photography, portrait and photoshop for professionals.  Every month, the magazine comes up with a theme for competitions.  With that said, all makeup artists in China (a country with 1.3 billion population will be submitting their work every month.  To be selected for publication is such a great honor!  Since I started to read this magazine in 2010, I have always been fascinated with the photography, the knowledge, the theme makeup/style.  I fell in love with it!  From this magazine, I learnt lots of most updated information in the industry and also have been inspired by lots of ideas!

I'll continue to do makeup and styling with all efforts!  My goal is to provide a platform for art on faces!

詮釋主題樣片《春。花樣年華》 "The Color Of Spring”

What Makes You DIFFERENT?

I worked for Le Metier De Beaute at the Galleria for an event.  An old lady gave me a $5 tip for her simple touch up.

Of course $5 is nothing big, but it is huge to me.  It means I am receiving a recognition by a customer.  Someone recognizes your effort, your energy, and your talent!  I have always wanted to tell my students and my friends this: "There are many talented people out there in the world.  What makes them want to use you over other people is your PERSONALITY, your HEART and your PASSION!"

Yes, you could be the most creative makeup artist in the world.  If you don't know how to work with people, being reliable, responsible, and having the ability to make your client feel comfortable around you, you are not a GOOD MUA yet!

Having solid basic skill can get your started, but having GREAT personal skill will make you being WANTED!
